Latest Rumors:

There is a lot of information out on the Internet right now, so what
I've done is simply summarized the last three episodes. You can find
them here:

Episode 20: Touched:
Written by Rebecca Rand Kirshner

At the Summers house, after Buffy leaves, there is a bit of chaos as
everyone tries to decide on the next move. Giles and Dawn wonder to
each other if they did the right thing by making Buffy leave. Faith
tells everyone they should sleep on it, and they agree--and then the
power goes out in Sunnydale. Buffy walks through the streets then
breaks into a house, disarms the fearful homeowner, and makes herself
at home.

Spike and Andrew are stuck at the mission until the sun goes down.
Andrew tries to get Spike to play a game, but Spike is worried about
Buffy. Faith is trying to lead the Potentials, and they come up with a
plan to kidnap a Bringer to get information. Caleb and The First (as
Buffy) watch the Bringers work at something. Kennedy is used as schmuck bait to catch a Bringer. They bring him back to the Summers home but learn that his tongue has been ripped out. Dawn remembers a spell to communicate with people who can't talk, and they decide to do it. Spike and Andrew return, and Spike learns that they made Buffy leave. He is furious and starts a fight with Faith, accusing her of wanting Buffy
gone. He leaves to find Buffy.

Willow and the others do the spell to communicate with the Bringer, who
speaks through Andrew. They learn that Caleb is keeping something
underground, then Giles slashes the Bringer's throat. Spike finds Buffy
in the house she broke into. He tells her that she was right and that
Caleb has something at the vineyard, but she is apathetic. The First
appears to Faith in the form of the Mayor and tells her she was right
to make Buffy leave and that Buffy never cared about her. Spike is
surprised that Buffy doesn't want to take back her leadership of the
group. She explains to him that she feels that she's doing things
wrong, that she never connected with the Potentials. She tells Spike he
only wanted her because she was unattainable. He tells her she is
insufferable, then tells her that he loves her--not because he wants
anything from her but because that is what he feels, that she is worth
loving. He gets ready to leave her to go to sleep, but she asks him to
stay and hold her. He does. The First/Mayor continues to taunt Faith
then disappears. Wood comes in to find Faith shaken. They bond over
their common experiences meeting the First and become close, sharing a moment of passion.

Kennedy seduces Willow, easing her fears about being in control of her
magic. Xander and Anya share some ice cream, complaining about all the
sex going on in the house. There is a montage of Faith and Wood having
sex, Willow and Kennedy having sex, and then Xander and Anya having sex on the kitchen floor. Buffy and Spike are still holding each other,
gazing into each other's eyes. Caleb and the First talk about their
plan. The First urges Caleb to kill them faster.

The next morning, Faith and the Potentials go to search for what Caleb
and the Bringers have hidden underground. Spike wakes to find Buffy
gone. She has gone back to the vineyard to confront Caleb about what he
has of hers. While Faith and the Potentials fight the Bringers in the
sewers, Buffy fights Caleb at the vineyard. During the fight, a
trapdoor is revealed, and Buffy opens it and enters another chamber
where she finds something that makes her smile. Meanwhile, Faith and
the Potentials find a bomb that is about to go off.

Episode 21: End of Days
Written by Doug Petrie and Jane Espenson

The bomb goes off as Faith and the Potentials dive for cover. Buffy
sees what Caleb has been hiding from her--a scythe embedded in a stone.

Caleb appears and taunts her about not being able to pull it out, but
she pulls it out easily, much to Caleb's consternation. Caleb tries to
get her to give it to him, but she won't. He prepares to fight her, but
the First as Buffy appears and tells Caleb to let her go save her
friends who are in trouble. He can get the scythe back when Buffy's
back is turned.

The surviving Potentials find a barely alive Faith and try to take her
away but are chased by Ubervamps. At the Summers house, Andrew has
brought food while Willow, Xander and Dawn return from failing to
locate Buffy. They worry that Faith and the others aren't back yet.
Meanwhile the Potentials are attacked by the Ubervamps, but Buffy comes
in and kills them with the scythe.

They all return to the Summers house, where Buffy seems to be back as a
leader. Giles and Willow examine the scythe, and Buffy says they need
to figure out more about it. Andrew and Anya help some of the injured
and decide to go to the grocery store to get more food. Buffy and
Xander have a talk; she has asked him to do something, and he's not
happy about not fighting with her, but he agrees to do it. While they
research the scythe, Giles and Willow discuss the possibility that
Willow may have to tap into her magic again. Xander and Dawn go to the
car to look for weapons, and suddenly Xander drugs Dawn with a
chloroformed handkerchief. At the vineyard, the First tries to calm
down a frustrated Caleb. They merge, making Caleb more powerful.

Buffy shows a now-conscious, healing Faith the scythe. They talk about
how difficult it is to be a Slayer, how they always feel alone, even
when they're surrounded by people. As Buffy goes downstairs, Spike
comes in. He tells her it was ok that she left last night and he's glad
she's back with everyone. He'll go check out the vineyard while she
goes to find more about the scythe. As he's about to leave, she calls
him a dope and tells him she wouldn't have the scythe if it weren't for
the strength he gave her the previous night. She wants to talk about
how they felt about the night, and he tells her he was terrified
because he's never been so close to anyone before. She admits she felt
close too. When he asks her what that means, though, she backs off a
bit. He gets the message and tells her they should go be heroes now.

Andrew and Anya are at the hospital stealing supplies, discussing the
probability that they will die in the final battle. Buffy finds a tomb
on unconsecrated ground and meets a woman there. She is a guardian who forged the scythe and kept it secret from the Shadow Men for a future
Slayer who would find it and use it. The Guardian tells her to use it
wisely, but then Caleb appears and snaps the Guardian's neck.

Dawn regains consciousness in the car, and Xander gives her a letter
from Buffy telling Dawn that she had Dawn taken away for her
protection. Dawn takes a stun gun and knocks out Xander, then turns the
car around and heads back to Sunnydale.

Caleb and Buffy fight and Caleb almost has the better of her when Angel
appears and knocks Caleb away. Buffy says it's good to see him but
declines his help, saying that this is a fight she has to fight alone.
Angel watches as she kills Caleb. Shaken, she turns to Angel and kisses
him as Spike watches, pained, the First-as-Buffy standing beside him.

Episode 22: Chosen (the series finale)
I am putting just the link here to encourage those who want to remain
unspoiled for the finale to stay unspoiled.

Join me in the Crypt of Decryption:

There is some disagreement in the spoiler community about the content
of the series finale. Kristin of E!Online
http://www.eonline.com/Gossip/Kristin/Trans/Archive2003/030407.html
has reported that Spike does not die in the finale; he disappears. Herc of Ain't It Cool News
http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=942
has reported news that many additional scenes have been filmed.

I have conflicting information. Some of my sources claim no additional
scenes have been filmed. Others claim there have been. I am leaning
towards believing that few to no extra scenes have been filmed. I have
heard of credible reports of the filming of the following scenes:

* Buffy and Angel's scenes at the end of episode 21/beginning of
episode 22
* All the scenes in the cavern fighting the Ubervamps
* Buffy and Caleb/The First's confrontation in the basement of the
Summers home
* The scene where Buffy talks about her plan with Giles, Willow,
Xander, Faith, and Dawn.
* The final scene (a location shoot) where Buffy and the others have
escaped Sunnydale and are standing over the crater where Sunnydale used
to be

I do not know what the dialogue in these scenes was, just that these
scenes were shot.

Letter Writing Campaign

I know a lot of people are upset with what we know about the finale
based on the script located here:
http://pluh.com/members/slashwhore/

This script is credible, though it may be incomplete and/or subject to
revision.

There are also people who are interested in writing to the people in
charge at Fox, Mutant Enemy, the WB and Angel about the possibility
that Spike (James Marsters) might go to Angel (the series) if it is
renewed by the WB. A recent convention report
http://www.atnzone.com/tvzone/features/buffycon.shtml
suggests that money and commitment to a regular story for the character may be an issue.

Others are upset about the portrayal of Spike in the tie-in novels
published by Simon and Schuster.

If you are interested in writing or faxing the people in charge, I have
put a web page of addresses and fax numbers here:
